Dana White isn’t one to shy away from tough questions, but when asked about Conor McGregor’s recent legal troubles, the UFC president dodged the topic entirely. During the UFC 310 post-fight press conference, White was pressed for his thoughts on McGregor losing a high-profile sexual assault civil trial, but his response was dismissive.
“What do you mean what’s my reaction?” White said when asked about the trial. “If I had a comment, I would’ve put it out already.”
McGregor, who was found liable for assault stemming from a 2018 accusation by Nikita Hand, has been ordered to pay $260,000 in damages, along with covering Hand’s legal costs. The verdict has sparked plenty of speculation about the UFC star’s future, but White seemed uninterested in addressing the elephant in the room.
While McGregor hasn’t competed since breaking his leg in July 2021, White has previously stated he doesn’t expect the former champion back until 2025. The recent trial and subsequent fallout, including business partners cutting ties with McGregor, haven’t changed White’s opinion on the timeline. “He hasn’t been fighting here in I don’t know how long,” White said. “If he does fight, it’ll be sometime next year.”
McGregor’s planned comeback bout against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 was scrapped after a broken pinky toe forced him to withdraw. Meanwhile, Chandler moved on, facing Charles Oliveira at UFC 309 in a losing effort, though he remains open to a future clash with McGregor.
Despite his usual candor, White’s refusal to address the trial directly leaves many fans questioning whether the UFC’s biggest star still has a home in the octagon. For now, it seems the UFC president would rather let the headlines speak for themselves.
