Tina Knowles, mother of global superstar Beyoncé, has drawn attention with her unexpected social media activity amid shocking allegations against her son-in-law, Jay-Z. The 70-year-old reportedly “liked” an Instagram post from ABC 7 Chicago News announcing that Jay-Z had been sued for rape, leading fans to speculate about her reaction to the situation.

Over the weekend, Jay-Z was named in a civil lawsuit refiled by attorney Tony Buzbee, accusing him and Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl during an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000. The accuser, identified as Jane Doe, claims she was drugged and raped by the two music moguls while an unidentified female celebrity looked on.

Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter, has vehemently denied the allegations. In a statement to, he claimed the accusations were part of a blackmail scheme orchestrated by Buzbee.

“My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee. What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle,” Jay-Z stated. “No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion.”

He went on to assert, “These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?”

Jay-Z also expressed heartbreak for his wife, Beyoncé, and their three children. “My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people,” he shared.

While neither Beyoncé nor Tina Knowles has publicly addressed the allegations, Knowles’ Instagram activity has fueled speculation about her stance. Fans are now left wondering whether the “like” was an accident, an act of support, or something else entirely.
