Jay-Z is wasting no time addressing shocking allegations brought forward in an amended lawsuit by an anonymous woman, “Jane Doe,” who claims the music mogul raped her at an afterparty for the 2000 MTV VMAs when she was just 13 years old. The lawsuit, initially filed against Diddy, was amended over the weekend to include Jay-Z as a defendant.
On Monday, Jay-Z’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, called for an emergency federal court hearing to tackle the claims head-on. “Due to the highly sensitive nature of this matter and the intense media scrutiny it has generated, we respectfully request to be heard on an expedited basis,” Spiro wrote in a formal letter to the court, as reported by AllHipHop. Spiro firmly denied the allegations, stating, “For the avoidance of doubt, Mr. Carter is entirely innocent. This is a shakedown.”
Spiro also emphasized that Jay-Z has no connection to Diddy’s ongoing criminal case, clarifying, “Jay-Z is not a suspect or even a person of interest in that case.”
The legal team is pushing for the woman to lose her anonymity in the case, citing transparency as a cornerstone of the judicial process. “The plaintiff has failed to demonstrate any compelling reason to depart from this rule,” Spiro added. Meanwhile, Jay-Z condemned the plaintiff’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, in a public statement issued Sunday night. “What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle,” Jay said. “No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!!”
Jay-Z’s swift legal response signals his commitment to clearing his name amid the explosive allegations, while his demand for the plaintiff’s identity to be revealed raises questions about the legal strategy moving forward.
