50 Cent is no stranger to controversy, and his latest social media post shows he’s got his sights set on the man at the center of a shocking murder case.
On December 10, the rapper took to Instagram to express his fascination with Luigi Mangione, the man charged with the murder of CEO Brian Thompson. True to form, 50 Cent is already thinking about turning the chilling story into a documentary.
“I don’t know, I kinda like this killer,” 50 Cent wrote, referencing Mangione’s manifesto and his straightforward claims of working alone to carry out the crime. The rapper continued, “I’m sorry this is going this way it is but I’m doing a documentary on him. He is special! I apologize in advance for anyone who doesn’t understand.”
Mangione’s manifesto, recently made public, provides a glimpse into his motives, which include frustration with the U.S. healthcare system. “Frankly, these parasites simply had it coming,” Mangione allegedly wrote. “A reminder: the US has the #1 most expensive healthcare system in the world, yet we rank roughly #42 in life expectancy.”
It’s clear why 50 Cent finds Mangione “interesting.” The rapper-turned-producer has a knack for captivating viewers, as seen with the success of Power and his upcoming Netflix documentary on Diddy. Now, 50 seems eager to tap into the growing public obsession with Mangione’s story.
While diving into Mangione’s case, 50 Cent hasn’t shied away from throwing shade at others. Recently, he mocked Jay-Z on Instagram over allegations against the Roc Nation mogul, even joking about Jay-Z attending a red carpet event. “Jay said they said I rapped [sic] a kid, everybody get dressed we going to see Mufasa LOL,” 50 wrote in a brazen jab.
As 50 Cent continues to court controversy and explore new angles for his productions, his interest in Luigi Mangione suggests the rapper is once again aiming to deliver something people can’t ignore.
