Jay-Z and Diddy are firing back at explosive rape allegations, calling the case baseless after the accuser’s recent interview revealed inconsistencies in her story. The woman, who filed as Jane Doe, accused the hip-hop moguls of sexually assaulting her at a 2000 MTV VMAs after-party when she was 13 years old.
Speaking to NBC News, Jane Doe detailed the alleged incident, claiming she was given a drink that made her feel woozy before being raped. However, her account has come under fire for “multiple mistakes.” For example, she alleged she spoke with Good Charlotte’s Benji Madden at the party, but Madden has denied even being in New York City at the time. Additionally, she claimed her father picked her up afterward, but he reportedly has no memory of this.
Jane Doe’s allegations also point to an after-party at Diddy’s house. Yet, photos from the night show Diddy and Jay-Z at Lotus nightclub, casting further doubt on her claims.
Despite the inconsistencies, the accuser insists, “Those flaws in the story don’t mean the rape didn’t happen,” describing the alleged assault as a “catastrophic event” that has haunted her life.
Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, wasted no time reacting to her interview, filing documents to inform the judge of the discrepancies. Calling the allegations a “sham,” Spiro argued that the case is built on shaky ground. “Basic facts in her narrative—the who, what, when, and where—are wrong,” he stated, adding that the accuser has “no single corroborating witness.”
Diddy’s legal team also slammed the lawsuit, with his attorneys calling it a “money grab” and referencing a recent claim by the accuser’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, that over 50 false allegations had been made against celebrities.
Both teams are now gearing up to file motions to dismiss the case entirely, signaling a fierce legal battle ahead.
