Drake might be ending the year on a high note, or at least trying to, after hosting a wild “Drake-alike Challenge” in Toronto this weekend.
The event, which packed a crowd on Saturday, celebrated all things Drizzy with contestants pulling off their best impersonations of the superstar. The winner? Makayla Chambers, aka “Girl Drake,” who took home a whopping $10,000 prize—reportedly courtesy of the 6 God himself.
The contest featured a variety of Drake look-alikes, from a hilarious “Ozempic Drake” to someone dressed up as his son, Adonis. The latter was none other than Anthony Po, the guy who kicked off this trend earlier in the year with a Timothée Chalamet look-alike contest in New York City. That competition only offered a $50 prize, but things have leveled up since then—Drake’s name clearly commands a bigger payday.
Despite the fun, the backdrop to all this is a tough year for Drake. His ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar reached its boiling point when Kendrick’s diss track “Not Like Us” had fans declaring Drake took a massive L. That loss reportedly triggered Drake to file a lawsuit against Universal Music Group, accusing his label of a “pay-for-play” scheme to boost Kendrick’s track at his expense.
While the rap world debates the fallout, Drake’s fans showed up and showed out for the look-alike contest. This all goes down as Spotify confirms that, despite everything, Drake was the most-streamed rapper of 2024. Whether or not that translates to a full career comeback is up for debate, but events like this show the loyalty of his fanbase.
