It’s been two years since Daniel Craig hung up his tuxedo in No Time to Die, but fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the James Bond saga might have to wait even longer. A new report reveals that behind-the-scenes clashes between longtime Bond producer Barbara Broccoli and Amazon could be delaying the franchise’s future.

According to The Wall Street Journal, tensions have been brewing ever since Amazon acquired the James Bond franchise in a multi-billion-dollar deal in 2022. Broccoli, whose family has stewarded 007 since the beginning, reportedly isn’t seeing eye-to-eye with Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke and others within the company.

The disagreements allegedly stem from how Amazon views the iconic spy. Broccoli has reportedly bristled at James Bond being referred to as mere “content,” and one Amazon employee’s remark that they don’t view Bond as “a hero” reportedly didn’t sit well. She’s also said to have strong reservations about “temporary people making permanent decisions,” and according to The Daily Mail, has even referred to some Amazon staffers as “f***ing idiots.”

While Broccoli continues to work with Amazon to shape the future of Bond, the creative direction and decision-making power appear to be at the heart of the conflict. She’s been adamant about preserving the integrity of the character and the legacy her family helped build.

This latest development follows weeks of speculation about who might take up the mantle of 007. While Broccoli has remained tight-lipped on the casting process, her clear frustrations with Amazon add another layer of intrigue—and uncertainty—about the franchise’s next steps.
