The fourth Captain America film is taking a different name and direction. Originally titled New World Order, the movie is now called Captain America: Brave New World, a shift that Marvel Studios made to avoid potential controversy. In an interview with Empire (via ComingSoon), longtime MCU producer Nate Moore explained the reasoning behind the change.

“I think ‘New World Order’ was a title we thought was really interesting and sort of moody and scary,” Moore said. “Some of the feedback we got, internally and externally, was that that phrase has, unfortunately, been co-opted in the real world in a way that made people uncomfortable.”

While the Captain America series has always leaned into political themes, the term “new world order” is often linked to conspiracy theories. Given today’s divisive climate, Marvel’s decision to steer clear of anything potentially inflammatory makes sense.

In Brave New World, Anthony Mackie steps fully into the role of Captain America, taking on global threats in the aftermath of an international crisis. Joining him is an ensemble cast, including Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross—now the President of the United States and set to become the Red Hulk—and Tim Blake Nelson as the Leader, marking his long-awaited return to the MCU.

Joaquin Torres will also take flight as the new Falcon, and Carl Lumbly reprises his role as Isaiah Bradley, adding layers to the film’s rich character lineup. The movie will address significant MCU plot points, including the emergence of adamantium, sourced from the massive Celestial corpse seen in Eternals.

As Marvel continues to tease the arrival of the X-Men, Brave New World could plant more seeds for their eventual debut. With adamantium’s introduction, fans are speculating about the potential appearance of shadowy organizations like Weapon X.

Producer Nate Moore hinted at broader implications for the MCU. “I think that Avengers teams are best when they are led by a Captain America,” he said. “This movie gives us a little bit of space to talk about, ‘Where are the Avengers? What does it mean to have Avengers? And is Sam the right guy to lead them?’”

Set to release on February 14, 2025, Captain America: Brave New World promises to bring action, intrigue, and some game-changing revelations for the MCU.
