Lil Baby fans, take a breath—his highly anticipated album WHAM has not leaked.
Despite a brief scare on December 23, when an album claiming to be WHAM surfaced on YouTube Music, it turned out to be a fake. Instead of Lil Baby’s signature flow, listeners were met with unrelated tracks by a completely different artist, with misleading titles like “F U 2X” and “Listen Up.” The bait-and-switch disappointed some fans eager to hear his new work, but others were relieved the real deal wasn’t spoiled, potentially protecting his first-week sales.
Lil Baby is kicking off 2025 with a bang, dropping WHAM on January 3 and following it up with another album, Dominique, in February. Speaking with Lil Yachty on A Safe Place podcast, Baby hyped up WHAM as his best project yet. “Totally,” he said. “100 percent. Where I am today, and what I’m going through today—it’s gon’ be my latest sh*t.”
He described WHAM as a high-energy, fast-paced project, loaded with themes of “fast cars, girls, jewelry, and the turnt lifestyle.” Dominique, however, will lean into a more serious tone, showing a different side of his artistry. Baby explained, “I know my fanbase really wants to hear those certain songs. But Dominique is gonna show my range as an artist—it’s deeper, more reflective.”
The double album strategy seems like Lil Baby’s way of balancing his evolving artistry with fan expectations. Here’s hoping both projects make it to release without further leaks or mishaps.
