Hudson Meek, the 16-year-old actor known for roles in Baby Driver and the MacGyver reboot, tragically passed away on December 21 after falling from a moving vehicle in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed Meek sustained blunt force injuries in the accident, which occurred on Canyon Road on December 19. He was transported to UAB Hospital but succumbed to his injuries two days later.
The young actor’s family shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, writing, “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”
Meek’s acting career began in 2014, with credits that include The Santa Con, Genius, and The School Duel. He portrayed the younger version of Ansel Elgort’s character in the Edgar Wright-directed Baby Driver. According to his obituary, Meek had several upcoming projects slated for release in 2025.
Beyond acting, Meek was a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School, a member of the football team, and known for his love of sports, travel, and humor. His obituary described him as “confident, convicted in his beliefs, spontaneous, and quick-witted,” adding that he “thrived in settings that allowed him to meet and serve new people.”
Hudson’s faith was also a central part of his life. His family shared that they were comforted by the ways his faith was nurtured throughout his life. The J Pervis Talent Agency called Meek a “cherished member” of their family in a heartfelt tribute, stating, “Hudson was an extraordinary young talent, whose dedication, passion, and promise shone brightly within our industry.”
Meek is survived by his parents, his older brother, and extended family. The Vestavia Hills Police Department is investigating the incident.
