Travis Kelce made NFL history on Christmas Day, breaking the Kansas City Chiefs’ record for the most career touchdown receptions with a spectacular play that led to a 29-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 35-year-old tight end didn’t just score—he celebrated in style, dunking the ball through the goalpost as a nod to the previous record-holder, Tony Gonzalez.

The tribute wasn’t lost on Gonzalez, who gave Kelce his blessing for the move last month. “If he dunks it, I will pay that fine!” Gonzalez joked during an NFL broadcast. While it’s against NFL rules to dunk the ball, Kelce’s celebration honored the legend in a way only he could.

Postgame, Kelce reflected on the monumental moment. “It’s everything to me. Tony’s been a mentor to me. I’m still trying to fill that guy’s shoes,” he said. “He’s such an unbelievable competitor, and I’ve got so much love for him.”

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes had nothing but praise for his teammate, calling Kelce the “big guy” who leads the charge for the Chiefs. “We’ve got a lot of weapons out there,” Mahomes said. “But Travis? He’s something else.”

The Chiefs’ victory earned them the No. 1 seed in the AFC, setting them up for a strong playoff run. Mahomes shared his personal motivation for clinching the win, revealing, “I told my pregnant wife I was going to get the No. 1 seed, so we can have the baby.”

Back home in Kansas City, Brittany Mahomes kept things festive, baking cookies with their kids, Sterling, 3, and Bronze, 21 months, while cheering on her husband. “Baking and watching Daddy,” she captioned a sweet Instagram Story.
